DAY 14
Day Fourteen: RELY ON HIS STRENGTH
Exodus 3:14 (NIV)
Exodus 3:14 “God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.”
As parents, it doesn’t matter what’s going on around us, when we hear our child’s cry for help, we go running. Sometimes, all that is needed is a hug or a listening ear. No matter what kind of help our children need, there is a strong desire to ease the pain, whether emotional or physical.
God feels the same way about us. Moses faced several critical points in his walk of faith. One came very early in his relationship with the Lord. God appeared to Moses in a burning bush and commanded him to go rescue the Israelites from slavery. The first time God spoke to Moses in Exodus 3:10, He challenged his ability to trust Him: “So now, go. I am sending you to Pharoah to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt” (NIV). Moses probably never imagined God would use him as part of the rescue mission for the nation of Israel.
The situation appeared overwhelming to Moses. How could he possibly go to Pharoah and tell him to let his people go? He could not! At least, he could not do it on his own strength.
We may not be literal slaves, but each of us tend to suffer from some sort of bondage in our life. Whether it be the loss of a loved one, a strained marriage, a rebellious child, severe depression or anxiety, or even financial hardship, God sees all our suffering. He hears our cries for help, and He wants to rescue us just like He did with the Israelites. God’s rescue mission may not look the way we imagine or come as quickly as we had hoped, but the Lord’s timing and plan for our lives is always for our best.
Are you amid a situation in which you know God wants you to trust Him, but the way seems too overwhelming and unsure for you?
Trusting God in faith is not confusing or complicated and is not dependent on your circumstances. Authentic faith is simply trusting this: God is who He says He is and will do what He says He will do! We need to trust our Heavenly Father and confidently believe in His character, strength, and wisdom.
Moses felt totally inadequate to do what God wanted him to do. God understood. This is what is so endearing about our Savior; He understands our frailties. All He asks is for you to be willing. Trust His love and care, and you will be strengthened by His power.
Precious Heavenly Father, thank You for understanding my frailties. Give me authentic faith. Even when my path seems dark and unsure, I know You will strengthen me. I believe You are who You say You are, and You will do what You say You will do. I ask You to help me rest in Your presence, in Your love, and tender care.
