DAY 1

Day One:  WALK IN HIS WISDOM

Proverbs 1:5&7 (NKJV)

Proverbs 1:5 “A wise man will hear and increase learning,

And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel,

Proverbs 1:7 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

You cannot learn godly wisdom in a university and get a degree in it.  It can only come in a right relationship with God and a heart that is seeking Him.  Socrates said, “The only true wisdom is knowing you know nothing.”

Proverbs is a great book about wisdom in our daily life, how to avoid wrong choices, and most importantly how to experience God’s blessings.  In Proverbs 1:1-7, we see that fearing the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.  When we fear the Lord, we submit to His wisdom and commit ourselves to keeping His commandments and being obedient.

God’s wisdom is strength, right thinking, guidance, and a right course for every man in every age of life and circumstance.  Perhaps, the best definition of wisdom is “viewing life from God’s perspective.”  That means sifting our ambitions, challenges, problems, and tasks through the filter of God’s truth in His Word.

When you reject wisdom, it carries steep consequences because it a rejection of God.

Proverbs warns that anyone who rejects wisdom is a fool.  We try to hide our lack of wisdom.  It reminds me of the story of the man who bought a yacht.  His wife was nervous because he had no experience sailing.  However, he knew he could handle it and so for weeks he practiced in the harbor before taking it out to sea.  Finally, he talked his nervous wife into going on the yacht with him.

Gingerly, she stepped aboard.  Out of the harbor they headed, and he tried to put her at ease.  He said, “Honey, look, I practiced enough in this harbor to know where every rock, every reef, and every sand bar is.”  And at that very moment, a huge hidden rock beneath the surface made a large crunching sound from stern to stern.  “There,” he said with a sheepish grin, “is one of them going by now!”

Fearing God is faith and a reverential trust in Him that will enrich and bring fulfillment to your life.  When you walk daily with His wisdom and discernment it gives you proper values, guidance instruction, and a healthy perspective in life.

Precious Lord, let me view life from Your perspective.  Help me to sift my ambitions, challenges, problems, and tasks through the filter of Your truth.  Give me divine wisdom through an intimate relationship with Your Son, Jesus.  May I continue to grow in wisdom and be obedient to Your Word.

Prayer Points:

  • Personal:  Wisdom in how to navigate through 2025

  • Community: The lost would  fear the Lord, come to Jesus.
