Q: What are the dates for Heartland this year?
A: This year Heartland is scheduled for July 15th – 19th.
Q: Will Heartland take place in the evening like the previous two years?
A: Yes, Heartland will run from 6:00pm – 8:30pm on Wednesday – Friday, and during normal church hours on Saturday and Sunday.
Q: How much does Heartland cost?
A: Nothing. Heartland is completely FREE. There is an optional $12 tee shirt you can purchase for your child.
Q: Is Heartland open to children of all ages?
A: Due to capacity limitations this year Heartland is only open to children is 1st – 6th grade.
Q: Are you feeding the kids at Heartland?
A: We will be serving snacks each night, not meals.
Q: What will the kids learn this year?
A: The Heartland theme is “Kids After God’s Own Heart” focusing on the life of King David, and how the Bible describes him as “A Man After God’s Own Heart.”
Q: Will you have any guest speakers at Heartland this year?
A: Yes, Holly Duncan from Southlands Christian Schools will be the guest speaker for children in 4th – 6th Graders and Elisabeth Reeve will be the guest speaker for the 1st – 3rd Graders.
Q: What should my child bring with them to Heartland?
A: Their Bible and a pen.
Q: What shouldn’t my child bring to Heartland?
A: We request that children not bring toys, electronic devises, weapons, or illegal materials to Heartland.
Q: How will you make sure my child is kept safe?
A: All children will be assigned to and supervised by a background-checked adult volunteer. Every Heartland volunteer will go through an application and reference check process. Children will always remain in group settings, with multiple adult volunteers. Youth volunteers will serve at Heartland, but will not serve as main leaders. The same through check-in and pick up process we utilize during weekend services will be in place for Heartland. This means children will only be released to the parent or guardian that has the child pick up tag.
Q: Is Heartland equipped to minister to children with special needs?
A: Yes, our Champions Club Ministry will integrate with the Heartland volunteer team ready to work one-on-on with special needs children.
Q: Can my child bring friends to Heartland?
A: Yes, we encourage children to invite friends and family to Heartland. Guest must be in 1st – 6th grade, and the adult that brings them to Heartland must complete all of the necessary Heartland registration paperwork.
Q: Will all ages be together for Heartland?
A: This year children in 1st – 3rd grade will have a classic VBS style Heartland experience in the Auditorium, and utilize the Assembly Rooms and Multi Purpose Rooms for games, crafts, and activities. Heartland for children in 4th – 6th grade will meet in the Main Sanctuary for a high-energy “Rally Style” ministry experience.
Q: Is there anything for parents to do if we decide to stay on campus and wait for our child?
A: Yes, the second floor will be transformed in to a “Parent Lounge.” Coffee and refreshments will be provided for parents that decide to wait.
Q: Can parents volunteer to serve at Heartland?
A: Yes, we welcome parents to partner with us in the “Spiritual Development” of their child. Please pick up a Heartland Volunteer Application at the Heartland Registration table.
Q: How can I help support Cause Kids and Heartland?
A: There are three ways you can partner with us:
1. Pray we will have at least 150 genuine decisions for Jesus. Pray that over 400 children will attend Heartland. Pray that at least 100 children will be water baptized at the culmination of Heartland after the 11am Services on Sunday, July 19th.
2. Register your child and any children that are in you circle of influence. Don’t wait. Space is limited.
3. Volunteer to serve at Heartland and help us reach the future generation of King David’s.
Q: What happens if I’m late picking up my child from Heartland?
A: You will be automatically signed up to serve once a week with Cause Kids for one full year.
Q: How do I become a Heartland volunteer?
A: First, sign up on the Heartland Volunteer Sheet located at the Heartland Registration table. Then turn in a completed Heartland Volunteer Application. Your application will process your application within 72 hours and contact you by email and with a personal phone call with more details.
Q: When is Heartland?
A: Heartland runs for 5-days beginning on Wednesday, July 15th, and concludes on Sunday, July 19th.
Q: What time is Heartland?
A: On Wednesday – Friday Heartland runs from 6:00pm – 8:30pm. On Saturday and Sunday Heartland will have run during normal church hours on Saturday and Sunday.
Q: Do I have to serve all 5 days to be a Heartland volunteer?
A: No, we realize not everyone can commit to 5 days of service, and are honored to have you serve based on you availability. Please note, some high-level volunteer positions do require volunteers to commit to all 5 days of Heartland.
Q: Do I need previous experience serving with children to become a Heartland volunteer?
A: Nope, all you need is a heart to serve and the desire to make a positive impact in the life of a child and their family.
Q: What ages are the children attending Heartland?
A: Heartland is open to children in 1st – 6th grade.
Q: Will there be food for volunteers at Heartland?
A: Yes, volunteer food will be available upstairs from 5pm – 5:30pm, Wednesday to Friday.
Q: Will all volunteers be required to teach the kids bible lessons?
A: Nope. Most Heartland volunteers will play a very important support role to the Heartland leaders. If you are interested in a volunteer teaching role please contact The Cause.
Q: Are there any important dates for volunteers I should know about besides the actual Heartland 5-day event?
A: Yes, there are four important Heartland dates you should know about:
- June 27th and 28th / Heartland Volunteer Training and Vision Cast Meeting – Following the Saturday 5pm service and the Sunday 11am Service we are hosting a 30 minute important Heartland Volunteer informational meeting.
- July 4th / Heartland Promo Table at the Brea Country Fair – Help us sign up families for Heartland during the Brea Country Fair. This is an awesome and easy way to reach non-church families. There are two shifts for this day: First Shift is 9am 1pm and Second Shift is 1pm – 5pm.
- July 11th / Heartland Community Outreach – Join us on Saturday, July 11th, at 10am as we mobilize door-to-door outreach teams to invite families in Brea and La Habra to attend Heartland.
- July 14th / Heartland Set Up – Help us set up and prep for Heartland on Saturday, July 14th, from 5pm to 8pm. Dinner will be provided for everyone that helps.
